  • Asks the U.S. Attorney and the Attorney General to release what they have.

A demand on X. Not a record produced, and not a finding that either office is withholding a named file.

A question. Tagging an office is not proof the office has a file, and not proof it has answered.

The post itself says this is not a Montana account, not delivery in Montana, and not knowledge of a crime. The desk has not re-opened the DOJ page image.

One public board. Deaths in custody, inquests, and the filings agencies already published. The federal calendar, the city and county agendas, and the plate-reader contracts sit in the same room. Nothing here is a live jail roster.

    Already public

A name is here only if a court, a coroner, a department, or a newsroom has published it. No rosters. No detainee search.

  • 02

    Inquest ≠ lawsuit

A coroner’s jury asks whether a death was by criminal means. It does not award damages, and a “no crime” finding does not close a civil file.

  • 03

    No flight line

JPATS publishes how many people it moves, not when the plane leaves. This desk will not track tails, call signs, or live positions.

Plate readers and private patrols

Section 46-5-118 is a 90-day limit on police plate-reader data, not a paper every county files with the county attorney. Valley County has already published a policy. Missoula’s public fight is a city contract: Rogers International, then Black Knight, patrolling shelters and parks, including a deal the council passed without body cameras.

Council packets, and the request not sent

The city’s public meeting list is on the desk, with item titles from the agendas that are already posted. County commissioner public and administrative meetings are read from the county’s own public portal. The next records request — plate-reader policy, Flock contract, Black Knight contract — is drafted and not mailed.

Two numbers that get misquoted

The state medical examiner counted 23 law-enforcement-involved or custody deaths in 2025, and 44 in 2024. The same kind of count, printed since 2020, is 31, 32, 35, and 37 in the four years before that. Those totals mix jail deaths with deaths that happened while officers were present. They are not people shot by police. A second public study counted 79 fatal encounters from 2019 through 2023 and does not match the medical examiner. The two lists are not added together. CDC’s 10 leading causes of death do not include this category.

Complaints and disqualification orders

The 2023–2024 Judicial Standards report marks several grievances pending, including three Missoula numbers. Pending is not a finding. In 2026 the Montana Supreme Court denied disqualification motions in State v. Bolich, DC-25-473, and State v. Stroup, DC-24-575. Same counsel. Neither motion removed the judge.

Two Missoula causes are on this desk: Jacques v. City of Missoula, DV-32-2026-0000037-WF, and Redfern v. Leichty, DV-32-2026-0000664. FullCourt Enterprise is the court’s system. The public portal is an index. It did not answer today, so the last lines here are the ones already published.
